What it is
A structured catalog of the things I watch, read, listen to, and otherwise care about (TV shows, episodes, books, films, and more) each with rich, typed metadata.
Why it exists
I want to track culture the way I track everything else in the garden: in my own structure, on my own pages, talking to the rest of my stuff.
Goodreads and Letterboxd are fine. They’re just not here.
The Arcana is my way of saying: this artifact matters to me, here’s what I know about it, and here’s how it connects to everything else.
What goes in the Arcana
Things that are cultural-object-shaped and benefit from structured metadata:
- TV shows (and their seasons, and their episodes)
- Films
- Books
- Albums and tracks
- Probably more, eventually (podcasts, games, zines, whatever)
Some artifacts nest. A show contains seasons; a season contains episodes. The Arcana handles that with tiers: primary for the standalone thing, secondary for the parts.
